Megan Davenport Brandenburg, NC LMBT#8719
I specialize in Swedish and Myofascial Massage combined to create relaxing, therapeutic bodywork sessions tailored to each client's needs. Massage therapy and the healing power of touch have been longtime passions for me. When my path brought me back to the Triangle, I found myself led to massage therapy school.
I am a graduate of the Massage Therapy Diploma program at the Body Therapy Institute in Silk Hope, North Carolina. In addition, I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have found this educational background to pair well in somatic psychology, a field which emphasizes the connections between the the state of mind and the state of the body. This mind-body connection is a central part of my focus in the practice of therapeutic massage.
A native of Washington, in eastern North Carolina, I now live in Hillsborough with my husband, Rich, and our cats, Benny and Percy. I love living in such a progressive area that combines the wealth of activities a larger city has to offer with the small-town sense of community and rural peace. In addition to my love for massage therapy and holistic well-being, I enjoy knitting, cooking, exploring the nearby hiking trails, and enjoying the abundance of live music the Triangle has to offer.
A little note about the work I provide...
In my practice, I do not differentiate session types by category, such as deep tissue or relaxation. Each session is customized to your needs, whether that means focusing on stress relief, pain reduction, increased range of motion, or a combination of these. Pressure is based on your comfort level and session goals, and can vary throughout the massage. However, this does not mean I can (or will) work as firmly as possible for a whole session! "No Pain, No Gain" is not a phrase we use in my appointments, and more pressure is not always better. My work adheres more closely to the (albeit less concise) motto "It doesn't have to hurt to work (although sometimes it might)."
The work is a conversation that I have with you, both through our words and what your tissues have to say. It is an honor to have the opportunity to be a part of helping you feel like your best you.
